ZCAS announced the introduction of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) programme in July 2012. ZCAS was encouraged to broaden its range of course portfolio by including this prestigious programme as a response to the increasing demand and enquiries for the programme from the market as well as industry. The programme provides a well-rounded approach to business purchasing and supply chain management which is much sought after by both industry and academia.
CIPS qualifications are highly regarded as the ideal training for procurement professionals of all levels, as they are accredited by the organisation that promotes and protects the high standards of the sector, and therefore it can be trusted that the training and knowledge acquired from these qualifications is of the required standard. ZCAS offers CIPS in full-time, evening and online methods of study. ZCAS is also an authorized CIPS examination centre.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
Level 2 Certificate in Procurement and Supply
The first of the three entry level qualifications. The ideal starter qualification for anyone new to the profession with little business experience. This qualification is worth 18 credits and you will need to pass each exam to achieve the award.
Five CORE modules make up the required 18 credits
- Introducing Procurement and Supply (L2M1) – 6 credits
- Procurement and Supply Operations (L2M2) – 3 credits
- Stakeholder Relationships (L2M3)
- Systems Technology (L2M4)
- Inventory, Logistics and Expediting (L2M5)
Level 3 Certificate in Procurement and Supply
The second of the three entry level qualifications. It will help you to prepare for a career in procurement and supply and progress onto the CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply. For this qualification you will need to complete 30 credits. There are four CORE modules which make up 24 of the required credits. Then you can choose one of the ELECTIVE modules to make up the 6 remaining credits.

- Ethical Procurement and Supply (L3M2) – 6 Credits
- Contract Administration (L3M3) – 6 Credits
- Team Dynamics and Change – (L3M4) – 6 Credits
Choose one ELECTIVE module to make up the final remaining six credits
- Socially Responsible Procurement (L3M5) – 6 Credits
- Socially Responsible Warehousing and Distribution (L3M6)
Level 4 Certificate in Procurement and Supply
The highest of the three entry level qualifications. If you are a more experienced person, already working in the profession for 2+ years, start here. You’ll develop the technical skills, knowledge and competencies employers are looking for. You are required to complete 60 credits to achieve this qualification.

- Scope and Influence of Procurement and Supply (L4M1) – 12 Credits
- Defining Business Need (L4M2) – 6 Credits
- Commercial Contracting (L4M3) – 6 Credits
- Ethical and Responsible Sourcing (L4M4) – 6 Credits
- Commercial Negotiation (L4M5) – 6 Credits
- Supplier Relationships (L4M6) – 6 Credits
- Whole Life Asset Management (L4M7) – 6 Credits
- Procurement and Supply in Practice (L4M8) – 12 Credits
Level 5 Certificate in Procurement and Supply
This qualification will help you to grow in confidence, improve organisational procurement and fulfill objectives. It’s based on the managerial and professional levels of the CIPS Global Standard. You are required to complete 5 core modules, then choose your own learning pathway by selecting 3 elective modules. This will total to the 60 credits required to achieve this qualification..
Five CORE modules make up 42 of the required credits.
- Managing Teams and Individuals (L5M1) – 12 Credits
- Managing Supply and Chain Risk (L5M2) – 6 Credits
- Managing Contractual Risk (L5M3) – 6 Credits
- Advanced Contract & Financial Management (L5M4) – 12 Credits
- Managing Ethical Procurement and Supply (L5M5) – 6 Credits
Choose three ELECTIVE module to make up the final 18 required credits
- Category Management (L5M6) – 6 Credits
- Achieving Competitive Advantage Through the Supply Chain (L5M7) – 6 Credits
- Project Management and Change (L5M8) – 6 Credits
- Operations Management (L5M9) – 6 Credits
- Logistics Management (L5M10) – 6 Credits
- Advanced Negotiation (L5M15) – 6 Credits
Please note: This is not an entry level qualification. The highest qualification you can start at is the Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply.
Level 6 Certificate in Procurement and Supply
This qualification takes you all the way on your professional journey to becoming MCIPS Chartered. It’s based on the professional level of the CIPS Global Standard, and builds on what you’ve learned at CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply. You are required to complete four core modules then select three elective modules. This will total to the 60 credits required to achieve this qualification..

- Strategic and Ethical Leadership (L6M1) – 12 Credits
- Global Commercial Strategy (L6M2) – 12 Credits
- Global Strategic Supply Chain Management (L6M3) – 12 Credits

Choose three ELECTIVE module to make up the final 18 remaining credits
- Strategic Programme Leadership (L6M5) – 6 Credits
- Commercial Data Management (L6M7) – 6 Credits
- Innovation in Procurement and Supply (L6M8) – 6 Credits
- Supply Network Design (L6M9) – 6 Credits
- Global Logistics Strategy (L6M10) – 6 Credits
Please note: This is not an entry level qualification. You are required to complete or have exemptions from Level 4 Diploma and Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply.
