ZiCA and ZCAS Sign Memorandum of Understanding
The Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) and the Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies (ZCAS) have agreed to build cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today 6th May 2022 at the ZICA offices. The signing ceremony was graced by the ZICA Secretary and Chief Executive Mr. Anthony Bwembya and the ZCAS Executive Director Dr. Egret Lengwe. The signing of the MoU marks the strengthening of a long standing partnership between ZICA and ZCAS.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, ZICA Secretary and Chief Executive Mr. Anthony Bwembya resounded the benefits that the collaboration will bring in directing more effort and expertise on matters of research in the advancement of the accountancy profession.
“This agreement is a significant milestone in our ongoing collaboration with ZCAS. For years, the two Institutions have directed their focus and expertise on fostering the training of accountants. We have come a long way and now is the right moment to strengthen our cooperation and deepen our partnership for the benefit of the accountancy profession,” said Mr. Bwembya.
Speaking at the same event, ZCAS Executive Director Dr Egret Lengwe said that the MoU will spearhead the promotion of capacity building activities and Continuous Professional Development programmes for Chartered Accountants.
“With our MoU we intend to ensure that we enhance the issues of Public Financial Management and of course through research we want to disseminate as much information through various advocacy platforms to the public and keep them well informed about what the two institutions are doing and the impact of the activities on the social and economic front,” said Dr. Lengwe.
The MoU is a step in the fortifying of a long-term partnership that both parties believe will strengthen the two Institutions.
